BECOMING A MEMBER IS EASY.

You must be 18 or older to use this on-line application. Users under 18 must open an account via a branch locations and with a guardian/adult. Before we begin, this membership application for Frankenmuth Credit Union should take about 5 minutes to fill out, if you have these items accessible:

  • Minimum of $15 for Membership

MI Open Checking comes with a FCU debit card. This account does not allow members to opt into Bounce Protection services, so transactions that try to clear when funds are not available will be returned. Requires a monthly fee of $4.95 to maintain this account. Overdraft options available from a line of credit loan, credit card or savings account, if funds are available.  Checks may not be issued on this account. Account requires a savings with FCU which requires a $5 minimum balance and $10 membership fee to open. No minimum balance fee, account activation fee, account closure fee, dormancy fee, inactivity fee, low balance fee. Free phone banking, online banking, app banking and branch access. ID Protect: *$3 a month will be withdrawn from your MI Open account to pay for ID Protect. Member can opt out if they feel it is not of value to them.

Minimum Opening Deposit
This checking account does not require a minimum opening deposit. However, a regular savings account must first be opened as a condition of membership. This requires a $5 minimum balance to be on file and there is a one time fee of$10.00 to open a regular savings.

Minimum Balance Requirements
There are no minimum balance requirements on this account and no minimum balance fees.

Basic Account Features
This is considered a checking account with debit card access. There will be no overdraft or non-sufficient funds (NSF) fees charged. There will be no fees for account activation, closure, dormancy, inactivity or low balance fees.

Customer Service
You will have access to Frankenmuth Credit Union branches, telephone banking and ATM access. You will be able to deposit cash and checks at our branches and at an ATM when available. You will be able to cash checks that are drawn on Frankenmuth Credit Union with no fee. You will have access to free online banking, mobile banking and banking alerts. You will also receive free electronic statements.

Transaction Limitations
This checking account is eligible to have overdraft protection in the form of an overdraft loan, line of credit or credit card. Overdraft transfers may be made automatically into this account without a fee. The savings account may also be linked for automatic transfers.
No other accounts may be set up for automatic transfers into this account. No checks may be ordered on this account and the account will receive E-statements. No other transaction limitations apply to this account unless otherwise stated in the Common Features section.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROCEDURES FOR OPENING A NEW ACCOUNT:
To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.
What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other
information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.
NEGATIVE INFORMATION NOTICE: FCU may report information about your account to credit bureaus. Late payments, missed payments, or other defaults on your account may be reflected on your credit bureau report.

Identity Theft Protection
Your account may be protected by our Identity Theft Protection. You and your family may receive coverage that includes debit and credit card registration, comprehensive identity theft resolution services, experienced recovery specialists to assist in case of a claim, and an identity theft recovery case plan to inform you of the recovery process. You also receive total identity monitoring for items such as public records, real property records and telephone records. Credit monitoring is also included and you may set up alerts to notify you
of certain activity. You can also receive a 3-in-1 credit report and access to your credit score every 90 days. There are also online identity news articles and valuable phone and web resources. All this coverage is provided to you for a monthly $3.00 fee, charged to the head of household consumer checking account. Take advantage of this exciting security coverage today.

ACH Credit Entries
For an ACH credit entry subject to UCC Article 4A, FCU makes notice of such credits through online banking and statements. No separate notice will be provided. Credit given by FCU to a member from an ACH credit is provisional until FCU has received final settlement from the Federal Reserve Bank. If such settlement is not received, FCU is entitled to a refund from the member of the amount credited.

Common Features
Bylaw Requirements: You must complete payment of one share in your Regular Savings Share account as a condition of admission to membership.
Transaction Limitations: We reserve the right to at any time require not less than seven days notice in writing before each withdrawal from an interest-bearing account other than a time deposit, or from any other savings account as defined by Regulation D.
Nature of Dividends: Dividends are paid from current income and available earnings after required transfers to reserves at the end of a dividend period.
National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund: Member accounts in this credit union are federally insured by the National Credit Union Insurance Fund.
